Summer Programme 2008
Sunday 8th June: Malham Cove
One of Yorkshire's most popular tourist sites and a chance to photograph the splendid Dales scenery or, if you want people action, the climbers in the cove. Meet afterwards at 6pm in the Lister Arms in Malham village.
Sunday 20th July: Coach Trip to Liverpool, The Docks and Crosby
Liverpool city of culture 2008 will host the Tall Ships this weekend and the docks will be a lively place to visit. The city centre will provide further photographic opportunities. This trip will stop off at Crosby to see Gormley's 'Wandering Tribe'. Crosby beach may not seem like the obvious choice for a famous artist, but Sefton seems to have struck gold as the only place in Britain to house Gormley's creation. Previously the work has been shown at Cuxhaven in Germany, Stavanger in Norway and De Panne in Belgium.
Monday 25th August: Leeds Chapeltown Carnival
This is a photographer's dream. This carnival, starting from Potternewton Park attracted 100,000 visitors in 2007. Wonderfully friendly atmosphere and a parade of exotically dressed locals all wanting to be photographed. Does it get any better? Meet afterwards at the Harewood Arms just opposite Harewood House entrance.
Sunday 14th September: President's afternoon
Tour round Nidderdale, our own local AONB in its Autumn colours. Meet at 4pm for tea at Manor Barn, Wilsill, HG3 5EB. Husbands, wives, partners and children welcome. Please let Jo and I know if you are coming so we have some idea of numbers. Tel: 01423 711274.
Also a reminder of this year's set subject - a set of 4 images on the theme 'I would have never thought of photographing that'.
